Transportation of animals from the whale jail has began on Thursday June 20th. According to the latest information, 6 belugas and 2 killer whales were loaded into containers and taken via road to Khabarovsk. We are pleased that the process has begun, but there is still a lot of question because of the complete lack of transparency from those responsible for the process. VNIRO did not inform any of the public organizations about the planned activities, and there is not a single independent observer from the public in the team involved in the transportation.

We ask you to start writing to the the Ministry of Natural Resources and VNIRO, and demand them to involve public organizations as independent observers of the transportation and rehabilitation process. The process of releasing whales should be transparent, and not under the control of people and organizations involved in captures!
