TINRO refused to have an independent observer for the release of 50 beluga whales

Urgent! TINRO refused to have an independent observer for the release of 50 beluga whales, which is scheduled to begin on October 30-31

Coalition sent an official request to VNIRO and TINRO to include our independent observer for last release operation of 50 belugas. VNIRO proposed to send them an official letter and emphasized that the observer should have all the documents allowing them to be taken aboard the ship – a sailor’s passport, certificates of safety courses, a medical book.

It’s quite difficult to find a volunteer who has all the valiD documents, but we found him! Alexander Zarchikov is a professional navigator, has a higher navigational education and all the necessary marine documents.

Free Russian Whales coalition sent an official letter to VNIRO and TINRO, attached copies of all documents of our observer, but received a negative response. Deputy Director of TINRO informed us that it turns out that “there is no possibility on the ships to accommodate an additional specialist,” and therefore TINRO cannot accept our observer! We have not yet received a response from VNIRO, but there is practically no hope that the situation will change.

Today we found out that TINRO plans to start loading belugas into the scientific vessels “Zodiac” and “Professor Kaganovsky” on October 30 or 31.
We do not believe that there is absolutely no space for one independent observer on these pretty big vessels.

Public does not tryst VNIRO and TINRO. Their refusal to have an independent observer is a very alarming sign that confirms that they have something to hide from public eyes during the last and most controversial release of belugas from “Whale Jail”.

Friends, we must witness this release!

Urgent! Please send an email to VNIRO and TINRO and request to allow an independent observer Alexander Zarchikova from the coalition “Free Russian Whales”
