Three orcas – Tihon, Gaika and Zoya released back to the Sea of Okhotsk

August 6, 2019

On August 6, three more orcas from “whale jail” were released into the Sea of Okhotsk after a long transportation, which began on August 1.

For the first time, independent observers monitored the release process. Release details are not yet known – we will post once we know more, so stay tuned.

2 orcas and 81 beluga whales remain in the whale jail. Most likely, in three weeks the fourth release of animals will begin. Whether only two orcas or orcas and belugas will be released is not yet known. There is not much time left until winter, and there are a lot of belugas, so in order to have time to release all the animals this year VNIRO will have to work very hard. We hope that everything works out! And we are waiting for more the news.

И ждём новостей.⠀Фото и Видео: Виктор Никифоров/Гринпис Россия—-Three orcas – Tihon, Gaika and Zoya released back to the Sea of Okhotsk⠀On August 6, three more orcas from #whalejail were released into the Sea of Okhotsk after a long transportation, which began on August 1.⠀For the first time, independent observers monitored the release process.
