A petition “Legally prohibit the capture of cetaceans for educational and cultural purposes” on Change.org has been created. Please sign:
Here is a list of countries which banned whales and dolphins capture: Great Britain, Costa Rica, Switzerland, Brazil, Australia, Chile, Israel, Argentina, Haiti, France, Mexico, Maldives, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Antilles, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Bahamas, Colombia.
You probably did not know, but such a decision was also made by the Government of Russia! At least, on 20th of June 2019, during a live conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Gordeev mentioned that. He announced to the whole country:
“To prevent such events and stop catching that amount of cetaceans, the government decided to change the legal framework, to ban activities on fisheries and capture for the cultural and educational purposes, leaving only the catch for scientific purposes and for the North people.”
But so far nothing happened after this statement was made.
Do we want the “whale jail” to repeat?
Are we ready to see freedom-loving sea animals to be freezed in tiny sea pens?
Let’s help the Russian Government to adopt a very necessary law that protects whales and dolphins from captivity. Whale jails, cruel captures and dolphinariums should be in the past!
Please sign the period and spread the word about it!
