Scientific concilium : “There are no contraindications for the release of orcas and belugas in their natural habitat”

On April 25, concilium of scientists was held in Russian Fisheries in Moscow, after which it was decided by scientists that all orcas and beluga whales from Srednyaya Bay could be released not earlier than June 2019, when ice would melt from the places where animals should be transported.

The scientific community has concluded that there are no contraindications for the release of orcas and belugas in their natural habitat. However, individual plan for each animal should be developed.

Dear Friends, this is another big step forward! The scientific community – Russian and International, has publicly stated that all animals can be released! Do you remember how much we had to fight to defend this position? WE DID IT! ALL OF YOU HAVE MADE IT! How many attempts were there to convince the public that orcas and beluga whales will not be able to survive in the wild, but we all were able to defend the truth! THIS IS YOUR ACHIEVEMENT!

BUT IT IS TOO EARLY TO RELEAX – NOW WE WILL HAVE TO FIGHT FOR THE BEGINNING OF AN ACTUAL REHABILITATION OF ORCAS AND BELUGAS

Despite the fact that all (scientists and state bodies) have already come to the conclusion that it is necessary to rehabilitate and release all animals into their natural environment, orcas and beluga whales are still in the hands of captors who are not going to give them away and insist that all animals belong to them.

The Minister of Nature and Environment, Dmitry Kobylkin, said many times that scientists will decide the fate of orcas and beluga whites – we all heard the opinion of scientists, now it is up to the state bodies that have the right to confiscate animals and give full access to the facility to start the rehabilitation process. It’s time to act! #LetsFreeRussianWhales
