Changes have been made to the transportation plan of belugas

November 7, 2019

The press service of VNIRO informed that due to the deterioration of weather and the forced interruption in the loading of animals, changes have been made to the transportation plan of belugas. This is done for fastest release of the animals already loaded on the ship.

All remaining beluga whales will be released in three stages. At the first stage, “Professor Kaganovsky” with 19 animals on board, not waiting for the full load, today will go to the planned place of release – Uspenia bay near the Lazovsky State Nature Reserve. It will take about 8 hours. Tomorrow these belugas will be released.

At the same time, 14 animals will be loaded on Zodiac, which will then go to Uspenia Bay.

After the return of “Professor Kaganovski” to Srednyaya bay on Saturday, November 9, the remaining belugas will be loaded and transported to the release point.

Friends, at the moment we are discussing our further actions in accordance to new circumstances. Representatives of the Coalition and Greenpeace Russia continue to be on board of rented vessel and also monitoring the situation from the shore in Srednyaya Bay.

We will keep you posted as soon as we have news.
